Looking after the environment
I don’t know about you, but I want New Zealand to be really clean! That’s why I think it’s great that ZESPRI looks after the environment.
Gary and Paul are here to show you what they are doing to make sure the environment is healthy – just like you and me!
So Gary the Grower, what do you do to keep the environment healthy?
Well Kiwi Bee, we follow a programme called KiwiGreen. This means we only use sprays on our vines if we find any mean bugs or plants.
We also sometimes use sheep to cut the grass instead of a lawn mower!

What are you doing Paul the Packer?
We have heaps of cool ideas Kiwi Bee! The first one is that we now get rid of the ice from our fridges every 8 hours instead of 6 hours. This means that we save 10% on our electricity bill. We also make sure that all the boxes we use are completely recyclable!
ZESPRI® has also been talking to a company called SkySails. They have made a giant kite that you can put on the ship so you don’t need to use as much fuel. When the wind is really strong the ship uses the kite to help its engine.
Wow Paul, you have some great ideas too! I feel really great knowing you and Gary are looking after the environment like that.
