Preparation, storage and eating: All ZESPRI® Kiwifruit have a skin that can be easily peeled and removed with a knife. Once peeled, the kiwifruit can be sliced, diced, pureed or eaten whole. An alternative popular eating option is to leave the skin on, cut the fruit in half with a sharp knife and scoop the contents out with a teaspoon and eat, making kiwifruit a portable fruit that can be eaten anywhere, and anytime.

When choosing ZESPRI® Kiwifruit, look for fruit that is semi-firm to touch, unblemished and with no soft, bruised spots or wrinkled skin.

It normally takes between 3 - 5 days for a firm ZESPRI® Kiwifruit to ripen although this process can be hastened if placed in a paper bag with an apple or banana. A ripe kiwifruit will yield gently to your fingers when you press it, and can be eaten immediately or stored in the refrigerator for a further 2 - 3 weeks.

ZESPRI® Kiwifruit are best stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or exposure to heat.

ZESPRI® Kiwifruit sweeten as they age, and so if left for too long, they will become spongy and ferment, so it is best to consume them before they become too soft.

Freezing ZESPRI® Kiwifruit is also an alternative option to immediate consumption, as neither the colour nor flavour is affected by this method of storage.
