Zespri is one of New Zealand’s biggest brands and our leading horticulture exporter, employing more than 500 people around the world, exporting to more than 50 countries and returning $1.8 billion to rural communities across New Zealand. The wider kiwifruit industry employs around 10,000 people fulltime and around 25,000 during peaks.
Our purpose at Zespri is to help people, communities and the environment around the world thrive through the goodness of kiwifruit. This is evident in the nutritious fruit we’re providing, in the contributions we’re making to our local and national economies, and in our ongoing focus on sustainability and community investment.
It is a purpose that goes beyond the wonderful nutritional qualities of our kiwifruit. It is underpinned by three values that we hold dear. We believe in guardianship which, for us, means going the extra mile to look after our people, the community and the land. We are results-driven, challenging ourselves to think big and deliver better. We cultivate personal connections, which means listening and acting with empathy and humility – and treating each other better for it.
Bay of Plenty is the heartland of New Zealand’s kiwifruit industry. Over 80 percent of our crop is grown here, and our head office with around 300 staff is proudly based here in Mount Maunganui.
With strong consumer demand for our premium, healthy, delicious fruit, Zespri is on track to grow global sales from almost $3 billion last season to $4.5 billion by 2025.
We know our industry’s continued growth stems from a lot of hard work from a lot of people, from the orchard through to market. Our industry is always looking to attract skilled people right across the supply chain including, growers, researchers, post-harvest suppliers, distributors and marketers.
