2 Zespri™ SunGold™ Kiwi, peeled and cubed
Diced Zespri SunGold Kiwi, toasted sesame seeds, sliced green onion tops for optional garnishes
1 cup coarsely chopped onion
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons aji-mirin
2 tablespoons sesame oil, plus additional for skillet
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 cloves garlic
1 1/2 pound beef filet
Puree onion, soy sauce, brown sugar, aji-mirin, sesame oil, black pepper, garlic and Zespri SunGold Kiwi in a blender or food processor.
Thinly slice beef and place in a large resealable bag with marinade. Refrigerate for 30 minutes for tender cuts, and overnight for tougher cuts.
Remove meat from marinade and shake off excess.
Grill lean cuts over medium heat for several minutes on each side. Alternately, working in batches, cook less tender cuts in a skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Sprinkle with diced Zespri SunGold Kiwi, sesame seeds and green onions.
Start with a great lean steak and grill or take advantage of the kiwi’s tenderizing side and marinate longer with a less tender cut of beef.
